Donna Ostrander Obituary

Donna Esther Ostrander, a vibrant soul who opened her heart and home to many, passed away on August 23, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on August 3, 1959, Donna's life was a testament to love, kindness, and the spirit of community.

Her home was a sanctuary for countless individuals, where she donned the role of a nurturing “mother” to all who entered her life. Donna possessed a big personality, coupled with an unwavering commitment to helping others. She never met a stranger, embracing every person she encountered with warmth and compassion. Whether it was through her cherished children, her beloved animals, or her flourishing garden, Donna's love radiated in every aspect of her life.

Donna treasured her family deeply. She leaves behind her life partner, Michael Smarch, with whom she shared countless memories. Her son, Chad Ostrander, and her daughter, Natalie (Brandon Marcell) Ostrander, along with her sons, Eddie and Lance Ostrander, will carry her legacy of love forward. Grandchildren Madison Ostrander, Kara Smith, Lacey Moran, and Kane Henry were the light of her life, each holding a special place in her heart.

Her brothers and sisters, Eddie Bell, Beverly Franklin, and Carrie McDonald, share in the bittersweet sorrow of her passing, while they also celebrate the incredible life she led. Donna's furbabies, Lilly and Jackie, benefited from her gentle soul and loving care and will forever remind us of her compassionate spirit.

Though she has left this world, Donna is reunited with her parents, Edwin and Helen Bell, who will welcome her with open arms. She is also preceded in death by her ex-husband, Michael Ostrander, and her nephew, Joshua McDonald, weaving a tapestry of memories and bonds that continue in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A visitation and celebration of life to honor Donna will be held on August 31, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville. The visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and will continue until 4:00 PM, followed by a celebration of her life at 4:00 PM

In remembering Donna, let us hold dear the lessons she imparted — to love fiercely, embrace every moment, lend a helping hand, and cherish the connections we cultivate in this beautiful journey of life. She was truly a blessing to all who knew her, and her memory will forever illuminate our hearts.
