Donna Gail Bass Phillips, 56, of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.
Donna was born February 13, 1968 in Goldsboro, NC, to the late Stephen Wallace Bass and Janice Gail Brock Bass. She was also preceded in death by brother, William Cale Bass.
Donna was always a mother first. She dearly loved her family and dog, Kemba. Donna will be remembered as a substitute teacher with special needs children and an amateur volunteer investigator. She was always selfless, even as an organ donor. Donna had a beautiful singing voice and loved music, especially Taylor Swift. She was a fan of NASCAR, and basketball, especially NC State and the Hornets. Donna was always smiling, quick-witted and flashy. She was very creative and crafty and enjoyed reading.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 35 years, James "Jamey" Wilson Phillips, Jr. of Harrisburg; son, Jacob (Rikki) Phillips, of Concord; son, Hunter Phillips of Salisbury; mother, Gail Bass of Charlotte; siblings, Erica (Brad) Christopher, Jamie (Kacey) Bass, Angel Bass, Amanda (Colin) Davidson, Todd Bass, and Tommy Bass; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg. Donna's Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. Marvin Tyson. The service will be webcast: https://video.ibm.com/hartsell-funeral-home-harrisburg-nc1
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local Humane Society.
