Our beloved Sue Goodwin Readling, age 77, passed away peacefully at home and into eternity on February 6, 2026, after a long illness.
Sue was born July 25, 1948, in Wake County, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Dewey Calvin Goodwin and Margaret Goodwin of Apex, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Goodwin.
Sue is survived and deeply missed by her devoted husband of 48 years, Brady Readling; her loving children: Anthony Dwayne (Sharon) Todd and his children, Mackenzi and Carson Todd, of Powell’s Point, NC; Alan (Eleonor) Readling and daughters Francesca and Fiorenza Readling of McKinney, TX; daughter Denise Readling (Richard) Bordeman and their children, Ethan and Clara Bordeman, of Concord, NC; and her beloved sister, Alice Goodwin (Steve) Jones of Concord, NC, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her faithful kitty companion of 16 years, Bunny Pearl.
Sue will be remembered for her generosity and her heartfelt joy in helping others. Her infectious laugh and wonderful sense of humor will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
"A celebration of Sue’s life will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Harrisburg, NC. The family will receive friends beginning from 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. Eugene Oldham. The service will be livestreamed. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park- Harrisburg."
Donations in Sue’s memory may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church in Concord, NC, or The Goathouse Rescue in Pittsboro, NC.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Atrium and Cabarrus County Community Paramedics for their exceptional support over the past few years.
