Donna H. Psaros

Donna H. Psaros, age 84 of Lake City passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at her home with family by her side.
Donna was born in Ukmerge, Lithuania on August 19, 1938 to Vladas and Justina Dulke. She was united in marriage to John A. Psaros in September of 1958. John preceded her in death on February 4, 2018. Donna is survived by her children, Karen (Randy) Kain of Kingsley, Linda Nelson of White Lake and Greg (Shelly) Psaros of Lake City and six grandchildren, Malena, Hannah, Nick, Sam, Chloe and Sage. In the 1940's, Donna along with her mother emigrated to the United States where they settled in "the Region" in Northwest Indiana. She graduated from Bishop Noll High School in 1956. She met the love of her life, John, while making malts in a drugstore. They were married in Chicago and raised three children in Hammond and then Munster, Indiana.
Her career began clerking for "the Judge" who gave her a Chrysler Imperial, her first car, so she would no longer be late to work from riding the bus. Following her work with the Judge, she continued bookkeeping for Indiana Forge Federal Credit Union and the city of East Chicago, Indiana. She also was a very successful real estate broker. Donna and John built their dream home on Crooked Lake in the late 80's, where they enjoyed many years of fishing, boating and gardening and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed playing Bunco with the girls and the occasional visit to the casino. In addition, she was a founding member of her beloved Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church where she continued to provide her bookkeeping services along with her cooking and gardening skills. Her greatest joy came from her family and making sure everyone ate at least three helpings of food, in turn leading to one of her favorite mottos, "go throw up and eat some more." Her smile, compassion and witty spirit will be missed by all who knew her. May her memory be eternal! Donna was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Archangel Gabriel Greek Orthodox Church, 7111 US 31, Williamsburg, MI 49690 with Reverend Father Ciprian Streza officiating. Visitation will precede the services beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Visitation will also be on Friday, February 24, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to the Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church Building Fund. The family is being served by the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City.
