Mrs. Donna Kay Julian Reich, 72, of Fayetteville, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with her husband and children by her side.
Mrs. Reich was born March 16, 1952, in Fayetteville, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Patricia Julian; her grandparents, I.B. and Clara Julian along with James and Mary Jones; her aunt and uncle, Peggy Jones Beard and Robert "Doc" Veno.
Mrs. Reich is survived by her husband of 47 years, Willie Glenn Reich of Fayetteville; her daughter, Christy Reich Williamson (John) of Fayetteville; her son, Jonathan Glenn Reich (Courtney) of Benson; and four grandchildren, Lydia Jane Williamson, Priscilla Kate Williamson, Juliana Amelia Reich, and Caleb Alexander Reich (due March 2025). She is also survived by her brother, James "Jamie" Julian of Chocowinity; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Willis Reich of Cullowhee and Debra Reich Nobles (Bruce) of Fayetteville; two nieces, Kimberly Nobles McLaurin (David) of Eastover and Shannon Reich Bullard (Jason) of Cullowhee; their children, Audra Bullard of Cullowhee and Connor McLaurin (Korra) of Wade; several cousins; and a host of many other loved ones.
Mrs. Reich met her husband in July of 1970, in Fayetteville and they married on July 3, 1977. Mrs. Reich graduated from Sandhills Community College in 1975 as an LPN and in 1980 as an RN. She served as a nurse in the ICU, CCU, ED, etc. for over 20 years prior to retirement. Mrs. Reich loved the beach, stained glass windows, sports cars, Christmas, wind chimes, animals, caring for others, and being with her family. She was a tireless supporter of her husband, a staunch advocate for her children, and their biggest cheerleader. Mrs. Reich was a loving mother figure to all of her children's friends who have become part of her family. She fiercely loved her grandchildren. Her most honored titles were "Nanny" to Lydia and Priscilla and "Ginny" to Juliana and Caleb. She was firmly anchored in her faith and held tightly to the promises of God's Word, despite all of the challenges she encountered in life. Her commitment to studying the Bible was evident to all who knew her. Several scriptures she held dear are Psalm 91 and 127, Psalm 121: 7-8, Deuteronomy 28:6, and John 3:16.
The family wishes to express their most sincere appreciation to the medical professionals at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and Amedisys Hospice who cared for Mrs. Reich and her loved ones with compassion and fervor; particularly Megan, Jordan, Chris, Alex, Jeanna, Sinai, Emily, Jamie, Hope, Kalah, Courtney, Brittany, Destiny, Nikita, and Kristin among so many others including Schotzie, the therapy dog, and her handler, and the chaplain, Melanie. The family also thanks Mrs. Reich's local healthcare providers, Dr. Nicole Greyshock, Dr. Suriya Jayawardena, and Dr. Moses Aboagye-Kumi; and her care team at UNC-Chapel Hill, Dr. Jacob Wood, Dr. Katharine McGinigle, and Dr. Stephen Heisler and their staff.
The family will receive loved ones at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 1:00 pm followed by a celebration of her life at 2:00 pm with Reverend Kyle Fishbaugh officiating.
