Donna Saxton Obituary

Donna Saxton passed away on November 24, 2025. She was born on August 7, 1953, in Beacon, NY, the daughter of the late Norman and Marie (Knapp) Crotty.

On August 8, 1987, Donna married the love of her life, Gunter Michael Saxton, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fishkill. Throughout her life, Donna devoted herself to her family, her community, and the many people she touched with her kindness.

She was an active member of the Girl Scouts of America, the Lions Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Dutchess Junction Fire Company, and served as a Foster Grandparent at Fishkill Plains Elementary School. Donna taught Sunday school, lovingly crocheted blankets for babies in the NICU, and enjoyed word search puzzles, television and movies, and long chats on the phone with friends and family. Some of her happiest moments were spent sitting by the water in Cold Spring, feeding the ducks, and traveling as a proud "Dance Mom" with her daughters.

Donna is survived by her two loving daughters, Erika Saxton and Heidi Saxton; her beloved granddaughter, Gwendolyn Saxton; her sisters, Karen Palumbo, Margie Swearer, and Jane Mattracion; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents and by her husband, Gunter, in 2005.

Donna's warmth, generosity, and boundless love will be forever cherished by all who knew her. She had a gift for making others feel seen, supported, and cared for, whether through a comforting conversation, a handmade blanket, or a simple shared moment by the water's edge. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored, the lives she touched in her community, and the countless memories she created along the way. Though she will be deeply missed, the imprint of her kindness will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her.

Donna's funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Our Savior Lutheran Church 1400 Route 52, Fishkill, NY at 10am with fellowship to follow.
