Donna Scofield was born March 21, 1933 in Iowa city, Iowa to Raymond and Clara (Tuhn) Smith. Growing up and attending school in Grand Junction, Donna was the oldest of six children. At the age of fifteen, Donna began working at Brobst Café where she remained for the next eight years. After her youngest sister, Gale, was born, Donna shifted her attention to caring for Gale while their parents were at work. This nurturing relationship between the two sisters continued, even as Gale grew up.
In 1958, Donna met and married Oren Scofield. They had a daughter two years later, named Shirley Ann. Shirley was the joy of her life and Donna worked hard to pass on her strength, religious beliefs and moral values to her daughter. The two were nearly inseparable throughout life.
Donna enjoyed embroidering, reading, and was a huge baseball fan. An avid walker, she was known affectionately as "speed walker" by her friends and family. If she wasn't working or at home, there was a good chance that she was outdoors walking so fast everyone else had to race to keep up. She was also a huge animal lover, often adopting dogs and cats to give them a good home.
Her sense of humor, involvement in the church, and focus on family have left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Shirely; two sisters: Gale and Colleen; a brother, Lloyd; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
