Donna Shaffer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Field Funeral Home on Feb. 2, 2026.
Donna C. (Turner) Shaffer, 92, a lifetime resident of Masontown, WV, went peacefully into the Lord's arms on Saturday, January 31, 2026, with family by her side.

She was born on January 15, 1934, in Bee Run of Masontown, WV, the daughter of the late Ralph B. Turner and Gereldine (Blackburn) Turner.

Donna was an expert homemaker whose values were only of her faith, family, and home. She faithfully attended Mount Zion Church. Donna looked forward to every family reunion and loved spending time with them while she was waiting for the next reunion to occur. Donna enjoyed camping and visiting the State Parks, sewing, singing and going to Sagebrush Roundup, and doing hair as the "neighborhood hairdresser." Donna will be remembered for her warmth, love, and care she gave so freely.

She is survived by two sons, Neal Shaffer and wife, Florenda of Masontown and Nick Friend and wife, Samantha of Reedsville; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren, and life-time friend, Nancy Liston.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Melvin J. Shaffer; son, Cedric J. Shaffer; daughter, Sheila D. Shaffer; grandson, Fredrick N. Shaffer II; brothers, Niles D. Turner, Kenneth Christopher, Richard "Dick" Turner, Walter S. Turner, and Brent Turner, and life-time friends, Thelma Clingerman and Lorraine Wolfe.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, WV, on Thursday February 5, 2026, from 11:00 am until the 2:00 pm time of service with Pastor Chris Baker officiating. To honor Donna's wishes, she will then be cremated. The Field Funeral Home will provide compassionate and professional cremation services.

An extra special thank you is extended to Florenda, Neal, and Donnella for taking such great care of Donna.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Donna's memory may be made to the Masontown Volunteer Fire Department, 362 N Main St, Masontown, WV 26542.
