Donna Simpson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home - Alma on Sep. 4, 2023.
Donna Lynn Simpson
Age 69, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Donna was born in Detroit, MI on June 4, 1954, the daughter of Robert Junior Carter and Esther Helen Jewell. She attended the Lakeview College of Nursing in Danville, IL and became a Registered Nurse (RN). Before that, Donna worked at DTE, which at that time was Detroit Edison, and was the company's first woman supervising operator; which she achieved through hard work and dedication, while working at River Rouge Power Plant.
She was a loving mother and loving grandmother, and is survived by her daughter Cassandra Ross and grandchildren Violetta Joy and Zachary David. She is also survived by her sisters Beth Rutledge and Kris Vennard, and many nieces and nephews; along with her longtime friend and travel companion, Crystal Pommerenke, with whom she shared many wonderous and adventurous cruises. Cruising was Donna's passion, along with being a strong, honest, and loving woman. She was also pure in heart. "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God." (Matthew 5:8)
Donna was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Esther, her older brother Bob Carter and her daughter Kacie Lee Simpson.
A graveside service will be held Friday, September 8, 2023, at 1pm at Riverside Cemetery, Alma. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma. To view Donna's obituary or to leave a condolence for the family please visit www.luxfuneralhomes.com.

Donna was my wife in the 90s and she was a great and honest woman. She was a very hard worker and worked a lot of double shifts at Desert Samaritan Hospital in Mesa Arizona while I took care of the kids, Kacie and Cassandra.
I loved all three of them and wish we had never divorced. I miss all of them terribly.
