Donna M. Smoley

Donna M. Smoley, age 84, of Millcreek passed away Friday, April 11, 2025, at UPMC Hamot, surrounded by family. She was born on March 30, 1941, in Erie, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Wybiral) Huzinec.
Donna graduated from McDowell high school and worked as a secretary at Smith-Meter until her marriage to Father David Smoley on May 16, 1964. They would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary next month. Donna was a bible school teacher and girl scout leader, touching the lives of many. She was actively involved with the church, in her role as Pani Donna. She spent many hours supporting hoagie sales and bake sales, rolling thousands of apricot, nut and poppyseed rolls. She also dedicated her time with hospice care and meals on wheels. She enjoyed crafting, ceramics, and gardening. She especially enjoyed and loved her family and the holiday gatherings.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Martin, Carol Hlad and Beverly Graham, and brother-in-law Dale Graham, and her father and mother-in-law, John and Anna Smoley.
She is survived by her husband, Very Reverend Protopresbyter Father David J. Smoley, brother Ron Huzinec (Shirley), sister-in-law, Joyce Milko (Denny); brother-in-laws, Erwin Martin and Greg Hlad; niece/daughter, Diana Kitchen (David) and their daughter Alexandria and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews and one great-great niece.
Friends are invited to call at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, on Monday, April 21st from 4 pm until the time of a Paschal Panachida service at 7 pm. Further calling will take place on Tuesday, April 22nd at St. Nicholas Church, 1123 East Avenue, Erie, PA from 10 am until a Paschal Funeral Service at 11 am. The burial service will follow in Sterrettania Cemetery.
