Donna Darlene Thompson, 77, of Fayetteville, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Donna was born on June 29, 1948, in Ft. Hood, Texas, to the late Donald Dwight Dixon and Johannah Bell Slack Dixon. As a teenager, she moved to Cumberland County, where she graduated from Pine Forest High School in 1966.

She began her career with Carolina Telephone Company, where she worked for 14 years. Donna later found her true calling through her long-standing service at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. A devoted member and volunteer for over a decade, she eventually joined the church staff and faithfully served for 25 more years. She was especially known for organizing the church's annual bazaar, an event she lovingly coordinated each year.

A woman of faith and creativity, Donna had a deep love for crafts, particularly crocheting. She was known for her beautiful handmade prayer shawls, which she gave generously to those in need of comfort.

Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Gene Raymond Thompson; and her siblings, Priscilla Baker, Donald Dwight Dixon, Jr., Denise Colston, and Anita Rambeaut.

She is survived by her daughters, Erin Thompson and Tara Thompson; her sister, Tammy Georgeson and husband Arlynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
