Eldridge Warren Kimmons (Buddy) of Lillington, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 3, 2025.
Buddy was born on October 31, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA. At the age of six months, he was adopted by Eldridge H and Bettie Kimmons in Greensboro, NC. In 1998, Buddy was reunited with his birth mother, Margaret Cooney of Rock Hill, SC. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Mark Cooney, and a nephew Ruffin Hambrick.
After attending Pine Forest High School for three years, his family moved to France when his father was reassigned with the military. Buddy graduated from Poitiers American High School in France.
Buddy's career began as a civilian employee at Fort Bragg and lasted 41 years. His last 20 years of service was at Womack Army Medical center, where he retired as Administrative Officer of Department of Social Work. After retirement, he volunteered and worked part-time in Harnett County primary schools and Adcock Funeral Home.
Buddy was a long-time active member of Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers where he was Deacon Emeritus, Sunday School Director, and on many committees. He served as Sunday School Director for the Little River Baptist Association and on the Board of Directors for Care Net in Harnett County. He was a 50-plus-year member of Lillington Masonic Lodge #302, a Sudan Shriner, a member of the Harnett County Shrine Club, a 50-year member of Lillington Chapter #243 Order of the Eastern Star, and a Past Grand Officer of Grand Chapter of NC Order of the Eastern Star.
Buddy had a fun and loving personality, which brought much joy to so many people. His biggest joy was to spend time surrounded by his loving family.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary; son Jeffrey and his wife Donna; Grandchildren, Amanda Mitchell and her husband Adam; Laura Griswold and her husband Mel; Great Grandchildren, Gabriel, Cameron, Parker and Mila; Sisters, Gloria Brakefield, Shelia Morton, Linda Baily, Sharon Cooney, Marlene Moore, Sandra Ford and Brothers, Johnny Kimmons, Jim Osborne, Mike Cooney and James Cooney ; Sisters in law, Jo Griffin and husband Earl, Charlene Hambrick and husband Dale; special nephews Greg and Chris Griffin, several other nieces and nephews and many special friends.
There will be a visitation at Adcock Funeral Home on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral will be at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers, NC, on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow the service in the Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
The family has asked that no flowers be sent. Memorials may be made to the Baptist Men at Antioch Baptist Church, Mamers, NC PO box 525, Mamers, NC; Harnett County Shrine Club, P.O. Box 55 Lillington, NC 27546, or Lillington Chapter 243 Order of the Eastern Star, Scholarship fund at 5870 US Hwy 401 South, Bunnlevel, NC 28323.

Buddy was a special friend to us and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. Prayers continue for Mary, Jeffrey, and the extended family members. His legacy will live on in the lives that he touched.
