Donna M. Tyson

Donna M. Tyson, 80, of Lehighton, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, in the St. Luke's Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

Donna was born on March 20, 1945, to James J. and Florence (Hettler) Fink at home in Mahoning Township.

She attended one-room schoolhouses until 1955 when the Mahoning Elementary School was opened, and there she completed grades 5 to 8. She graduated from Lehighton Area High School in 1963 with honors.

During her school years, she was very active in many clubs and activities. She also belonged to the 4-H Club and took piano and accordion lessons.

Donna attended St. John's Sunday School and received perfect attendance numerous times. She was confirmed at St. John's Church of Mahoning and as an adult was active in many church activities. After graduation, she started working in the banking industry. She worked for Hazleton National Bank, Cement Bank and retired after 40 years in the industry from PNC Bank in December 2004 to care for her family.

While attending a funeral for her aunt, Donna met the love of her life, Roger, and they were married on May 1, 1965.

In 1970, Roger built their new home in rural Lehighton and the next year their only child, Steven, was born on Sept. 11, 1971.

Donna continued to work while her mother, Florence, did the babysitting. Donna and Roger enjoyed attending Steven's ball games and Boy Scout activities. After Steven graduated from college and married, they continued to help him in whatever way they could.

Steven and his wife, Harvine, blessed their lives with two grandchildren, Tia and Toby, who were frequent guests at MomMom and PopPop's house.

Donna and Roger loved to travel and toured 49 states. They also took pride in their home and lawn and spent many hours maintaining it.

Donna loved to read, go out for dinner with family and friends and travel. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Services: Funeral services 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, St. John's Lutheran Church, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton, with the with Rev. Anthony P. Pagotto officiating. Call 9-11 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 W. Penn Pike, Rt. 309, New Ringgold.
