Donna (Apley) Vieselmeyer, age 95 of Hebron, Nebraska, went home to Jesus peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
She was born on February 7, 1929 north of Hebron, Nebraska, to Clark and Esther (Marsh) Apley. She attended District 39 country school through her 8th grade year and then graduated from Hebron high school in 1947. Donna met the love of her life, Glen Vieselmeyer, in August 1947. They married on August 5th, 1948 and from that union was born a son, Glen Dale Vieselmeyer. Donna and Glen had been married for 64 years before Glen went to his heavenly home in December of 2012.
When she was a teenager, she would train horses and loved riding them. Donna even had a picture taken while she was standing on a horse that was featured in Life magazine when she was younger. The last picture of her on a horse was when she was at the spry age of 88!
Donna was a homemaker and caregiver to many others throughout her lifetime. She helped Glen and Glen Dale on the farm for many years until Glen and Donna retired from farming and ranching. During these times, she also cleaned houses for various people in the community. Donna was a Sunday school teacher in the church for many years and enjoyed teaching the young children about God. She had a heart of gold and it showed in all the times she would visit family, friends, and community members when they were in the hospital or assisted living facilities. For many years, she was faithful in her weekly visits to those in need and she would spend hours visiting them and making them smile. Donna also made sure that during Memorial weekend she put out flowers on many people's graves in the cemetery to honor them, especially when family members lived far away and couldn't do it themselves. She loved flowers and had many beautiful flowers in her garden that she tended to faithfully, even giving starts to her family and friends. She loved hearing how they were growing.
Donna was a faithful member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, Nebraska. She joined in 1948 and was a member for 76 years. She especially enjoyed sitting with the other members of the church for coffee and fellowship after each service.
She is survived by her son, Glen Dale Vieselmeyer of Hebron, NE; three grandchildren, Jason Vieselmeyer and wife Jeni of Joplin, MO, Dustin Vieselmeyer of Garden Plain, KS, Colt Vieselmeyer and wife Lindsey of Hebron, NE; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob Cox, Katie McClune and husband Tyler, Luke Vieselmeyer, Tate Vieselmeyer, Tell Vieselmeyer, Ty Vieselmeyer, Tess Vieselmeyer, Truman Vieselmeyer; and one great-great grandchild, Oakley Cox; one brother, Phil Apley and wife Bonnie; one sister, Phyllis Iverson and husband Jim, as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband Glen, father Clark Apley, and mother Esther Apley.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hebron Fire Department or Grace Lutheran Church, both of whom she gave generously throughout her lifetime.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE, with Pastor Keith Brozek officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hebron. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Price Funeral Home in Hebron.
