Donna Lee Voshell

Donna L. Voshell, 71, of Elizabeth City, NC died on Saturday, January 4, 2025 with Tommy, Peggy and Cooper by her side. She was born in New Castle, DE on August 1, 1953 to the late James M. Voshell and Holland Simpson Voshell, she worked for many years as a Quality Control Manager for the Canon Corporation.
Donna's journey through life was a testament to her deep connection with the sea and an abiding love for the great outdoors. Her spirit was as boundless as the ocean waves she navigated with joy and skill, whether she was casting a line amidst a long family lineage of fishermen in the Wanchese area since the 1800's or cruising the waters in her own boat.
Donna was a member of the Nags Head Surf Fishing Club, the Eagles Club and several fishing teams. Her passion for fishing was evident in her dedication to participating in every tournament along the Outer Banks, where her love for the sport shone bright. Donna's life was a celebration of nature's beauty, from the thrill of the catch to the tranquility of being on the water. She cherished the simple joys of grilling and being outside, finding peace and purpose under the open sky.
She is survived by her partner of 40 years, Peggy Eason; her son, Tommy Laing (Stacey); her grandson, Alex Utkewicz (Racheal); her great grandchildren, Gavin and Penny Utkewicz; her close family, Wayne Eason (Sherry); two special nieces, Hailey Eason and Jessica Casper (Matt); her life-long special friend, Cathy Bontemps; and her very special dog, Cooper. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Charlie Williams.
Though she has set sail on her final voyage, Donna's legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her zest for life, love of nature, and unwavering spirit will remain a guiding light for all who shared in her journey. In every wave that kisses the shore, we find a reminder of her remarkable life and the joy she brought to those around her.
The family extends their heartfelt thank you to the many first responders and friends who helped take care of Donna this past year during her illness, especially Brad Perry and Cathy Bontemps.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m, Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, with Chaplain Davin Phillips officiating.
