Donna "Renee" Frenette Weaver, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
Renee was born on October 29, 1943, in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada, to Armand Frenette and Anna Sofronuk Frenette. At the age of seven, she moved with her family to International Falls, Minnesota, where she later became a naturalized U.S. citizen. She graduated from high school in the Falls and went on to begin her career in Minneapolis.
Renee's life was one of adventure and devotion. As a military spouse, she traveled the world while raising her two sons. In 1987, she remarried and continued a life of movement and new beginnings across the United States in support of her husband Jon's aviation career.
Renee was a special presence to everyone who knew her. She was loving, kind, and deeply caring, with a positive spirit that uplifted those around her. She was an inspiration to her younger sister, Lynn, and a treasured member of her extended family. Renee had a lifelong love for animals and found joy and purpose in supporting causes that protected and cared for them.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Jon Curtis Weaver; her sons, Greg Betzing of Durango and Reid Betzing of Littleton and his wife Jamie; her sister, Lynn Lufbery, and her husband, Raoul, of International Falls; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Renee's memory may be made to any reputable animal charity.
