Donna Mae (St. Aubin) Weidauer was born on May 20, 1936, in Tracy, to Philip and Antoinette (Ouellette) St. Aubin. Donna grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1954. Upon graduation, Donna moved to Minneapolis and worked at the Stock Exchange in Downtown Minneapolis. After this short stint in the big city, she moved back to Marshall, engaged to the love of her life, Ronald Weidauer, whom she married on January 10th, 1956. This amazing couple celebrated 67 years of marriage this past January.

Donna and Ron moved into a very small house east of Marshall where Ron began to farm and Donna worked at a local bank as a bookkeeper. Farming was the foundation of their lives with Donna enjoying the role of cooking for the harvesting crew. The table was always full of yummy food and Donna loved filling their stomachs with this homemade food. Although Ron farmed the land, Donna was always the supportive farm wife - willing to jump in and help out with anything needed. In 1967, their first child, Janelle, was born and their second, Jenny, in 1972. Donna immersed herself in motherhood, but also opened a store with her sister, Darlene, in the Marshall Square Mall called “The Lean To.” Although the store eventually closed, it exemplified how she lived her life – people loved to lean on Donna because she was sassy, a little bit feisty, and always a great listener. With her sparkling eyes and her gift for gab, Donna never failed to make an impression. Donna treasured her four grandchildren and loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, embroidering, gambling, and having fun. She was a light to anyone who met her – her light will be missed.

Donna died unexpectedly and peacefully on October 4, 2023, at the Sioux Falls Heart Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Ron; children Janelle (John) Geurts of Marshall and Jennifer (Dave) Schmeichel of Golden Valley; grandchildren Lauren (Brady) Mellenthin of Marshall, Madelyn Geurts (Joe Boudet) of St. Louis Park, and Anya Schmeichel of Golden Valley; great-grandchild Callahan Mellenthin of Marshall; siblings Darlene (Jim) Jandl of Marshall and Mary Jane St. Aubin of Minnetonka. She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Antoinette St. Aubin, and siblings, Marv St. Aubin and Jim St. Aubin.

The family requests that memorials or donations be sent in Donna’s name to Prairie Home Hospice and/or Holy Redeemer School.
