Donnan Hugh Arbuckle

Donnan H. Arbuckle, 71, of Orland, California passed away peacefully on October 26th, 2025, in Chico, California.

Born in Oakland, California, Donnan grew up in Orland at the family ranch and graduated from Orland High School in 1972. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of San Francisco in 1976, and later a Master of Business Administration from California State University, Chico.

A well-known figure in the community, Donnan was co-owner of Arbuckle's Surplus Sales, a business he helped build with dedication and pride. He was a lifetime member and past President of the Orland Chapter of the Knights of Columbus and also past president and Board member of the Glenn County Resource Conservation District, contributing his time and expertise to causes close to his heart. Donnan was a towering figure who will be remembered for his sharp wit and generous spirit. He loved the outdoors especially salmon fishing whether on the river or deep sea. He found great joy in cooking and later baking. He also enjoyed reading, watching sports, and just spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Farris, his brother Devin (Judi), sister Eila, nephew Darrin (Cheri), and nieces Shannon and Jennifer.

He was preceded in death by his father Don, his mother Marie, and sisters Eena, Ennis, and Erin

A memorial Mass will be held at 8:30 a.m. on November 13, 2025, at ST. Dominic, followed by internment at 10:00 a.m. at the Catholic Cemetery on Road P. Family and friends are invited to gather for food and refreshments at St. Dominic Parish Hall afterwards.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Orland Pantry in his memory.
