He was born in Lancaster County, SC, on August 29, 1936, to the late Samuel Funderburk and Sulee McManus Funderburk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Jake Funderburk, Bill Funderburk, Jim Funderburk, and Elliott Funderburk; and his sisters: Mildred Tucker, Angie Rhodes, Sara Hobson, and Louise Cameron.
Donnie was the owner and operator of the Mattress Outlet of Sanford before his retirement. He was a NASCAR enthusiast.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his sister, Martha Godfrey of Hubert, NC; sister-in-law, Gwen Funderburk of Southern Pines, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 20 at 12 PM at Barbecue Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The Family will receive friends and family in the Church Fellowship following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
