Donnie Bernice Moore Lewis of Newberry, SC and formerly Williamsburg, VA, went to be with the Lord on October 27, 2025, at age 93.
She was born October 24, 1932, in Emporia, VA to the late Donnie and Fletcher Moore, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jennings B. Lewis, Jr. (J.B.); siblings Gladys Taylor, Louise Taylor, Alice Blankenship, Margaret Grizzard, Effie Lifsey, Willard Moore, Fletcher Moore, Jr., Warren Moore; and great-grandson, Parker.
She is survived by son, David A. Lewis (Patricia); daughter, Paula L. Kiser (Mark); grandsons, Sam Kiser (Julia) and Jeff Kiser (Kelley); great-grandchildren, Jennings, Callahan, Campbell, Decker, and Sutton; sister, Inez Whitlow; sister-in-law, Mabel Moore; brother-in-law, Luttrell Lewis; and many nieces and nephews.
Donnie was a charter member of Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Williamsburg, VA. She grew up on the family farm in Skippers, VA, attended business school in Richmond, VA, and lived her married life in Williamsburg, VA. Donnie had a career as a legal secretary with Anderson & Franck. She moved to Newberry, SC in 2018 to be closer to her children.
The family wishes to thank Lucretia Nance, Bettie Barr, Janis Gary, Dementia & Elder Care, Springfield Place (Unit 4) team, Dr. Bernardo and Bernardo Hospice team for their compassionate care.
A visitation will take place on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA followed by a graveside and interment at Williamsburg Memorial Park, 130 King William Dr., Williamsburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Walnut Hills Baptist Church, 1014 Jamestown Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23185 or Zion Baptist Church c/o Janice Elliot, 2006 Rolling Acres Rd., Emporia, VA 23847.
