Donnie Sue Nichols, age 69, of Trenton, GA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
Donnie was born on June 15, 1956, along with her twin sister, Connie, to the late A.G. “Jack” and Edna McKaig Moore. She grew up in the New Salem community on Lookout Mountain and later made her home in Trenton, GA, where she lived for many years.
Donnie was a kind and generous lady who devoted her career to nursing before her retirement. Multi-talented and creative, she enjoyed crafting stained glass, jewelry, and sewing. She loved to travel—always ready for a trip at a moment’s notice—and had a fondness for thrift shopping and collecting. Above all, Donnie treasured time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Jon (Ashley) Nichols; grandchildren, Oliver, Ruth, Jay, and Veda Nichols; sisters, Mary Lois (Charlie) Moore, Connie (John) Rogers, and Jan Moore; niece, Lisa (Anthony) Winfree; nephew, Tony Dixon; great-niece and nephew, Rebekah and Corey Winfree; along with many cousins and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Moore, and sister, Glenda Faye Blevins.
A funeral service to honor Donnie’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in the Larry Moore Memorial Chapel of Moore Funeral Home, Trenton, GA. She will be laid to rest at Hawkins Cemetery in New Salem. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 27, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, and on Thursday, August 28, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
Donnie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
