Donnye Lee Chappel

Donnye Chappel, 74, of Marlette passed away, Thursday, June 20, 2024.
Donnye was born October 11, 1949 in Clifford, Michigan to the late William "Gene" and Winifred "Mammy" (Knox) Chappel. He attended Marlette High School, graduating with the Class of 1969. Donnye loved the Lord and never hesitated to tell people about his faith. He was a member of the Hope Church in Marlette. Donnye liked working on cars, especially vintage muscle cars, fishing, hunting and anything he could do outdoors. He loved to cut his grass and his lawn looked like a golf course. Donnye was a jokester and gave everyone a nickname. In spite of all his good humor, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Donnye loved his family. His grandchildren were his everything.
Donnye is survived by his wife, Debbie, who would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on Monday, June 24; children, Michelle (Craig) Macdonald and Tori (Mike) Diegel; grandchildren, Blake Macdonald, Alex Diegel and Devin Macdonald; siblings, Chuck (Deb) Chappel and Alf (Beth) Chappel.
Donnye was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jamie Lee Chappel; sister, Sylvia Ross; and brother in law, Mel Ross.
The family will receive visitors from 10 AM-12 Noon on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Hope Church, Marlette.
A funeral service will take place at 12 Noon at the Hope Church with Pastor Paul Rohling officiating. Burial will follow in Marlette Cemetery.
