Thomas Michael McMahon, 79, of Sandusky, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026 at his home.

Thomas was born on August 5,1947 in Detroit to the late Edward and Gertrude (Lysher) McMahon. He worked as a maintenance man for the Frankenmuth School District in the early 80s and at the Sanilac Medical Care Facility in Sandusky. Thomas sold Watkins products and ran a food truck selling concessions for many years.

He loved to volunteer and had volunteered for the American Red Cross for more than forty years. Thomas also did volunteer work for St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sandusky and St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. He was a member of Knights of Columbus (K of C), St. Joseph, Sandusky, Holy Family Parish, and Countryside Free Methodist Church. Thomas operated the Sanilac County Disaster Service, an organization to help families left homeless by fire. He painted the statue in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Thomas single handedly spearheaded and raised money for the project by selling 4" x 8" bricks to pay the $21,500.00 for the 16-foot, four-sided clock to for the City of Sandusky.

Thomas is survived by his sister, Betty Jean Lackowski; nieces and nephews, Steven (Sarah) Jackson, Richard Jackson, Diana (Dave) Thomas, Colleen (George) Hynes, Dennis (Brigid) Jackson, Michelle McMahon, Jimmy McMahon, Claude (Debra) Lackowski, Michelle Clark, Rhonda Lackowski, Rene' Nassar, Michael Lackowski, and Nicholas (Amber) Lackowski; and many great nieces and nephews.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gertrude (Lysher) McMahon; siblings, Delbert (Dorothy) Sutton, Lois (Woody) Anderson, James McMahon, Patricia (Howard) Jackson, and nieces and nephews, Katie Thomas, Andrea Jackson, Clarence John "CJ" (Diane) Lackowski, and Matthew Lackowski.

The family will receive visitors from 11-12 noon on Friday, March 20, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sandusky, Michigan.

A funeral mass will be held at 12 noon on Friday, March 20, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sandusky, Michigan.

Burial will take place in St. John Cemetery in Ubly, Michigan.
