DORA DOLES
Henderson, TN: Dora Lee Doles age 72 passed away May 1, 2024, at her home.
She was born February 23, 1952, in Bolivar, TN, the daughter of the late Thomas and Geraldine Bain Doles. She grew up in Bolivar and graduated Bolivar Central High School. She also attended West TN Business College in Jackson.
She married Billy Joe Doles on August 2, 1971, who was serving in the U.S. Army at the time. They made their home in Pinson after his full-time service in 1981. In addition to her duties as a homemaker, she worked as a store clerk at Sav-A-Lot in South Jackson.
In 1995 Billy suffered an injury in an accident that left him paralyzed and she became his full-time caretaker for the next nineteen years until his death in 2014.
She enjoyed her swimming pool , gardening, reading, TV, and game shows. She was a simple woman who loved and adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchild above all things.
Mrs. Doles is survived by a son, Timothy John Doles of Montgomery, AL and a daughter, Amy Yevonne Rice of Henderson; seven grandchildren, Keirsten McLeod (Phoenix), Cameron Caudle, Brayden Caudle, Tucker Doles, Violet Doles, Trey Doles and Ivy Doles and one great grandchild, Magnolia McLeod; four brothers, Jerry Doles of Selmer, Jackie Doles of Nashville, David Doles (Barbara) of Middleton, TN and Rodger Doles of Humboldt, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Billy Joe Doles and a sister, Barbara Allen.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 6th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery at McNairy, TN.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM service time Monday.
