Linda Vaughan Grantham, born on February 13, 1947, in Hardeman County, Tennessee, left this world peacefully on December 5, 2025, in
Bolivar, Tennessee, at the age of 78. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Linda's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and deep compassion for those around her.
Linda graduated in 1965 from Bolivar Central High School, where her work ethic began to flourish. During her high school years, she contributed to her community by working at Bryant's Shoe Store. But her entrepreneurial spirit blossomed in 1969 when she and her husband, Wilburn Gene Grantham, whom she married on August 12, 1965, embarked on their journey together to start a gas store business. Two years later, in 1971, she opened Linda's Variety, a clothing store in Bolivar, which she owned and operated until 1978. Her career continued when she joined her brother-in-law, Kenneth, at Grantham's One Stop at Walnut Grove and Hwy 64 until 1981, after which she dedicated her talents to the Bank of Bolivar, where she worked diligently until her retirement in 2004.
Linda's life extended far beyond her professional pursuits. She was devoted to her faith, committing herself to a Christian life that involved daily Bible study. Her passion for creativity found expression in sewing, as she loved to create her own dresses, pants, and blankets. Music held a special place in her heart; she enjoyed playing the piano at home and served as a fill-in pianist at Ebenezer Baptist Church for many cherished years. Over the years, she cultivated a love for gardening, nurturing flowers that brightened her surroundings.
In 2015, as she faced health challenges, Linda selflessly decided to move to Pine Meadows Healthcare, where she quickly formed deep friendships and found joy in being close to those she loved.
She leaves behind her son, Darren Grantham and Amanda of Bolivar; her grandsons, who lovingly called her "Ging Go", Daniel Grantham and Nathaniel Grantham, both of Bolivar; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Dallas and Destin Grantham. She is also survived by her dear sister, Louise Hill of Bolivar.
Linda now reunites with many cherished family members in the eternal embrace of peace. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilburn Gene Grantham; her father, Hugh Aubrey Vaughan Sr; her mother, Ora Lee Young Vaughan; and her siblings-Lurel Vaughan, Lillie Wade Brown, Roy, I.J., and Hugh Aubrey Vaughan, Jr.
Her vibrant spirit, boundless kindness, and passion for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her. The warmth of her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar on December 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM and interment at Ebenezer Cemetery at Toone. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to the
Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or the
American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
