Massena: Dora M. Fregoe, age 86, passed away at Massena Hospital on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, surrounded by her family. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St. Massena. Arrangements are with the Philips Memorial Home in Massena. Burial to take place at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery.
Dora was one of 11 children born on June 7, 1938, in Massena to the late Odilon and Emilienne (Menard) Beaulieu. She married Victor in 1957 and raised six children of their own in Massena. They were married at Sacred Heart Church where they have been member for all these years. Dora was a school bus driver to 10 years. She also worked for the ARC for eight years and was a volunteer transportation driver. She was a member of the Moose Lodge for many years. She loved Bingo, playing cards, and cribbage. She loved crafts, cooking, and even made many wedding cakes for friends and family. She knitted washcloths and gave them away to everyone she saw. She and Victor enjoyed camping and visiting with family and friends. Although they both grew up in Massena, they enjoyed visiting many of the states and through Canada. Victor and Dora enjoyed their afternoon drives all over the North Country.
She is survived by her husband Victor G, children; Carolyn Fregoe of Nashville, Judith (David) Downey of Star Lake, Daniel Fregoe of Constantia, NY, Joan (Kevin) Cooney of Volney, NY, Victor R. (Sandi Butler) Fregoe of Nashville, TN, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, and a sister Louise Langdon of Mississippi along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dora was predeceased by her brothers; Claude, Sylvio, Gabriel, Paul and Marc Beaulieu, sisters; Lucille Beaulieu, Aline Sucese, Anita Beattie, Agnes Conner. Her son Gordon, a daughter in-law Cindy Burrows and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dora's memory to Massena Rescue Squad; P.O. Box 5314, Massena, New York 13662.
