In Memory of Dora Lynn Gustafson
It is with heavy hearts, we announce our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Dora Lynn Gustafson went home to be with Jesus on December 15, 2023, at the age of 70.
Dora leaves behind a legacy of devotion, survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Ronald Gustafson, and cherished daughter Angela with husband Aric and son Nathan Gustafson with wife Lisa. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sebastian, Savanah, Skyler, Sierra, Spencer Salois, Ashton and Zachary Gustafson, Ashley Lat-ay. Dora is also survived by her mother Loraine Martin, sister Lillian Phelps, and brother Billy Martin. She is preceded in death by her father, William R. Martin, and her sister Elaine Geiser.
Dora, who was named after her grandmother, was born in Corpus Christi on July 12th, 1953. Dora and her parents moved to
Cut Bank, Montana in July of 1969. Shortly after, in December, she met her true lifelong love Ronald W. Gustafson. Ronald and Dora were married on January 13th, 1973. They initially settled in Cut Bank, and after having two children, they opened their home to care for numerous foster and special needs children exemplifying daily their commitment to God's calling.
In 1976, Ron and Dora went into the furniture, appliance, and cabinet business. In 1994, they went into the motel business. In 2005, they sold their business and moved to Galveston, then building the Jamaica Beach RV resort.
Dora never met a stranger, her heart and her home were always open. She loved making meals for family and friends and even people she had never met before. She made cookies every year at Christmas time to give to the local police station and firehouses. Dora loved roller skating as a child, going to the beach, sewing, embroidery, and of course, cooking for everyone.
Together, Dora and Ronald traversed over 50 countries on nearly every continent. During these travels she collected crosses. She was a true believer of faith; on every wall of her home you could see her crosses from all over the world. They had the latest final continent planned for this upcoming January (Antarctica). While Dora's home stood as a testament to her devotion to Christ, she and her husband also spent countless hours dedicated to local churches, regardless of location.
In alignment with Dora's faith, memorial contributions are welcomed for the Gideons, supporting the dissemination of God's word. Donations can be offered directly to the Gideons or via [link to donate].
