Doreen Frances Hancock, age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at The Villa at Rose City. Born on June 1, 1936, in Hazel Park, MI, to Theodore and Margaret (Bissett) Smith, Doreen's journey took her from her roots in Hazel Park to a fulfilling life in West Branch, where she had resided since 2022.

Doreen dedicated 26 years of her life to Kars Peanut Products, where her hard work and commitment left a mark on those who had the pleasure of working alongside her. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, she exemplified service and dedication, traits that she carried into all aspects of her life.

Beyond her career, Doreen had a zest for life. She found joy in the company of others at the senior center, relished the thrill of casinos, and embraced the freedom of travel. Her vibrant spirit and passion for adventure were contagious, and she inspired those around her to live fully and appreciate each moment.

Doreen was a loving mother to her son, Raymond (Michelle) Hancock, and her daughter, Petra (Robert) Felts. She delighted in the company of her grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. Also surviving is her sister, Theodora Springer.

Doreen is predeceased by her husband, Raymond Hancock, and her sister, Margaret Roberts, both of whom she missed dearly. Their memories and the love they shared will forever be held in the hearts of those who knew her.

As we remember Doreen Frances Hancock, we celebrate a life filled with love, service, and adventure. Her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know her.

The family will have a committal service at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI  48442 with military honors at a later date.
