Doreen J. Jimenez, 88, (nee Veilleux) passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, after a short hospitalization from the result of a fall. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard, as well as three siblings and her parents, Leo and Margaret Veilleux. She is survived by five children, Teresa (William) McCahill of Indianapolis, IN, Maria Nuedling of
Buford, GA, Antonia Hafner of Suwanee, GA, Patricia (Michael) Deppe of Canton, GA, and Richard (Lea) Jimenez of Dundee, FL. She enjoyed being a grandma to her 14 grandchildren and GiGi or great grandma to her 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters LouAnn and Linda and her brother Joe. Mom spent her early adult years as the wife of an enlisted airman in the U.S. Air Force. During that time, she lived in many places stateside as well as Germany. She was a very talented seamstress, and every year we looked forward to claiming the fabric that we wanted for our new school outfit that she sewed for us. Easter was a special time when the four girls dressed up like Mom, and our brother, Richard, would wear a suit just like our dad. Widowed at the young age of 36, Doreen was a single parent who found the strength to raise her five children ages 7 – 15. She supported us for many years by working as a hostess at the Patio Restaurant in Merrillville, IN. Later on, she cleaned houses and discovered a newfound passion for cleaning! Her part time job as a movie extra led to her claim to fame-a scene in the movie Home Alone! Mom moved to Florida, living in Cape Coral for many years before moving to Ft. Myers. She loved her villa and made many friends in her new neighborhood. Her concern for others and natural maternal instincts led her to being a care companion for several people. She was deeply committed to caring for their medical needs as well as keeping them company. She was an avid card player and gathered with a group of ladies regularly to play hand and foot. Once she learned to crochet, she spent her spare time crocheting doily coasters to give away to everyone she knew. In December of 2023, Mom moved to the Atlanta area to be near her family. She spent her day playing with her grand dogs, and watching her two favorite game shows, The Price is Right and Let's Make A Deal. On Saturday evening, she enjoyed listening to the Lawrence Welk Show. She loved to eat ice cream and any kind of candy that would satisfy her sweet tooth! She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her. The next time that you make your bed (something Mom did every day), shop at Dollar Tree (her favorite store), or eat ice cream (her favorite splurge), dedicate that moment to her memory. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Northside Hospital Cherokee and Northside Hospital Forsyth for caring for their mother. There will be a private family memorial service at a later date.
