Doretha Logan Williams was born November 30, 1947, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Her parents were Eddie Logan and Lula Mae Hall Logan who are now both deceased. Doretha attended Bowman High School, and Utica College both in Mississippi, also she received a certificate of Business Administration. Doretha relocated to Chicago in 1968, where she met and married Henry James Williams on January 31, 1971, which from that union two children were born, Michelle Doretha Williams – Jackson and Lesley Ann Williams.
Doretha was baptized as one of the Jehovah's Witnesses in 1970. She faithfully served Jehovah for 52 years. She learned about Jehovah's Witnesses from her sister, Joree McKinney who aided her into the truth. Doretha ministered to many people over those years, helping many to learn about Jehovah and Bible truths. Even when Doretha's faith was tested by many doctors and nurses due to not taking blood transfusions and by teachers questioning why her children did not celebrate holidays she remained faithful to Jehovah.
Doretha worked for the Board of Education for ten years as a cafeteria worker. She also earned her Illinois State license as a day care provider, which she did for over twenty years.
Doretha enjoyed being with friends and family and was a very humble and kind person, always thinking of helping others when she had the means. She was well known for making her famous butter cookies. Doretha also enjoyed time with her daughters, she was a hands-on mother and was well known at her children's elementary school by the teachers and students, when school officials ask for parents to volunteer to help assist on school trips or being a classroom attendant, she would volunteer to assist the teachers.
