Doris Altis Obituary
Doris "Jean" Altis, 92 of Forsyth, went to be with her Lord on Thursday June 27, 2024, from her home. Funeral service will be held Friday, July 5 at 2:00 P.M. in the Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, Forsyth, Mo. Pastor Barb Johnston will officiate. Graveside service will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Cabool Cemetery, Cabool, Mo. 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Darrel Loughridge officiating. Graveside services are under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, Forsyth, Mo.
Jean was born May 20, 1932, near Mtn. Grove Mo. to Earl and Fay (Woodward) Woods. She married Robert James Altis, August 5, 1950, near Mtn. Grove, Mo. They were blessed with four sons.
Jean was a great mother and homemaker besides all the other occupations that she did; as a substitute teacher, cooking for the Cabool Elementary School, of which she made a special recipe for pizza, which as far as everyone knows is still being made in the school today. She helped with the family farm, milking cows and caring for the calves. Jean worked for two different plants, a chicken plant and a shoe plant that were in the area. She attended the Rhema Bible School in Broken Arrow, OK. where she learned to minister to others with the Lord leading her. Jean worked with Billye Brim's Ministry for several years. She was very active in Nursing Home Ministries for many years. She attended the Life Christian Center Church, on F Hwy, Bull Creek, Mo. while she was able. Jean was Saved at the age of fourteen years and became a devoted Christian and witness for the Lord. You could see the love for the Lord and the people in her smile.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert James Altis, her parents; one son Ron Altis and six brothers, two infants and Wayne, Herbert, Norris and Paul Woods.
Jean is survived by her three sons and their spouses David Altis (Cheryl) of Forsyth, Mo., Larry Altis (Merlene) of Coweta, OK., Randy Altis (Ronda) of St. James, Mo. one sister Karen Warnick of Springfield, Mo., and nine grandchildren. She will also be missed by numerous family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 5, 2024, from 1 PM until service time at 2PM, Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, Forsyth, Mo.
