Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Homes & Crematory - EdentonDoris Jane Lewis Ambrose, 86, of Harrellsville, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
A native of Hertford County, NC, Doris was the wife of the late Paul E. Ambrose and the daughter of Donnie Edward Lewis, Sr. and Lettie Glen Corbett Lewis, both deceased.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy J. Smith; sons, Chris Ambrose (Wendy), and Glen E. Ambrose (Tom Kiff); grandchildren, Jason T. Aldridge, and Maeghan Holloman (Lofton); great grandchildren, Garrett Ambrose, Fletcher Holloman, and Silas Aldridge (Carolyn); and sister, Bettie Cullipher.
In addition to her husband and parents, Doris was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Plaunty; and brothers, Donnie E. Lewis, Jr. and Bill Lewis.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, Edenton, NC.
A graveside service celebrating Doris’ life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Mountlawn Cemetery (Harrellsville Cemetery), Harrellsville, NC with Pastor Tommy Tripp officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America www.alzfdn.org
