Doris Barker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Muskogee on May 6, 2025.
On Saturday, May 3, 2025 Doris Irene Barker peacefully left this earth.
Doris was born March 5, 1948, in Burbank California to Tom and Irene Adamson.
Born and raised in Southern California, she studied at University of California – Berkley and completed her bachelor's degree in accounting. She married Bill O'Neal and had 2 children Kimberly and Billy. They lived in San Leandro, California for a few years before the family moved to Oklahoma in 1970. Living in Sallisaw for serval years then moving to Muskogee. Doris was a homemaker for most of her time in Sallisaw. After moving to Muskogee, Kimberly and Billy were older; she entered into the work force.
Doris loved working! She worked for Anthony's at Curt's Mall during the 80's as a department manager and then Dillard's in Arrowhead Mall during the 90's as a department manager and in the accounting department where she retired.
After being divorced for several years, Doris married Robert (Bob) Barker. They were happily married for 26 years. They shared the love of motorcycle rides with friends through Colorado and Bluegrass music. With Bob playing in a bluegrass band, they spent many weekends going to locations where he would play. Doris loved to host parties on her patio where Bob and friends would play music, enjoying food and wine.
Doris loved to cook, garden, spend time with family and friends. She loved her cats. Doris was known to take in any stray that showed up at the house. She would tell us she was "the cat lady".
In 2016 Doris was diagnosed with on set Dementia. In 2018 became a resident of Broadway Manor.
Bob would visit Doris every day and the staff always thought they were the sweetest couple. Kirstey, her granddaughter would visit and sneak in a cat to see her Nana. Doris looked forward to Kirstey's visits. Bob passed in 2022. Her daughter Kimberly then took over for Bob. Visiting her mother and making sure, she had her Frappuccino from Starbucks, Dove chocolates and her favorite slippers. Every holiday Doris had a wreath on her door. Every birthday was celebrated and Doris always said; "CAKE FOR EVERYONE" and everyone got cake. The staff at Broadway Manor were amazing caregivers all the way up to Doris passing. Doris was loved and will be missed by the entire staff.
