Doris Brinkley

Virginia Beach - Doris Virginia Brinkley peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Monday, December 8, 2025. Doris was born on February 28, 1933, to the late Alexander L. Sivells and Elizabeth Sivells. She was predeceased by two siblings, Herman Sivells and Mary Morris and daughter Annette McCoy.
Doris received her formal education at Princess Anne Training School, Virginia Beach, VA. She worked for over ten years at Tidewater Community College. She attended Morning Star Baptist Church and Proceeding Word Apostolic Ministries, Virginia Beach, VA.
Doris loved to cook apple cobbler, broccoli casserole, rolls and pineapple upside down cake. She didn't like to be photographed and there have been many times over the years when she escaped the camera. Doris loved to babysit her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a huge lover of daytime soap operas. Her favorites were General Hospital, The Bold and The Beautiful, One Life to Live and The Young and The Restless. Doris loved to listen to gospel music and praising God. She continued to do so up until her final days at the nursing home.
Doris leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Lynette P. Brown; one sister-in-law, Sarah Sivells; cousin, Carol Magwood; seven grandchildren, Christopher Brinkley, Vincent McCoy, Monette Boggs, Christa Edwards, Devlin Cress, Cowan McCoy and Clifton Mayfield; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
