Doris Cothran Brownlee

Doris Cothran Brownlee, 94, of Ware Shoals, and wife of the late Broadus Astor "Dub" Brownlee, II, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at NHC Laurens.

Doris was born on July 11, 1931, to the late Roland and Essie Turner Cothran. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and worked as a teacher's aide at Laurens Primary.

Doris was deeply loved by her family and was referred to as "Big Nanny" by all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, Gary Brownlee (Lynn); a daughter-in-law, Linda Brownlee; grandchildren, Little Gary Brownlee, David Brownlee (Amanda), Crystal Barbe (Ben); numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Emma Bryant.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Broadus Astor Brownlee, III, five brothers, and one sister.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by Rev. Billy Cole. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
