Doris Ann Cates – age 86 of Knoxville passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024. She was a faithful member of Marbledale Baptist Church her entire life. She worked at Levi Strauss and retired with 41 years of service.
She is preceded in death by parents, Samuel Edward and Josie Eubanks Horner; sister, Wanda Weishaup; and brother, James Horner.
She is survived by sisters, Geraldine Hill, Peggie Loveday, Nina (Lamar) Winkle and Sammie Neely; and brother, Bobby (Cindy) Horner. Doris had no children of her own, but she did have a lot of nieces and nephews. She loved her family fiercely and prayed for all of us. One niece described her as their "quirky, spunky aunt." She was so loved and will be so missed.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Marbledale Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM with Pastor Danny Neal officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 AM on Friday at Eastview Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 AM interment.
