Doris Ann Damron, 80, of Pataskala, passed away on August 15, 2024 surrounded by her beloved family. She was born March 26, 1944 in Williamson, WV to the late John Henry and Janie Kirk. Doris was a loving mother, Mama, and great grandmother.
Doris was passionate about her crazy, yet loving family. She is survived by her three children: Glenn (Barb) Damron, Philip (Bev) Damron, Carla (James) Johnson all of Pataskala. Along with her five grandchildren: Sara (Brendan) Brown, Chelsea (Tony) Neel, Felicia (John) Compton, Zach (Kerry) Damron, and Emma Johnson. Ten great grandchildren: Callie Brown, Brinley and Paisley Neel, Samantha, Donald, Daniel, Sidney and Westen Compton, and Rayden and Maddox Damron. In addition, she's survived by her sister, Oretha Chaffins of Reynoldsburg. She will be reunited in death with the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Franklin Damron. She is also preceded in death by her parents and many brothers and sisters.
Doris served as the choir leader at the Columbus United Baptist Church in Gahanna, OH for eighteen years and was very active in her church community where her fellow parishioners were like family. At home her door was always open to anyone stopping by, often without notice. Doris will be remembered for her love of cooking (her famous green beans especially), making enough food to feed an army, and nobody leaving her house hungry. You always knew what kind of day Doris was having by the way she was dressed. She was notorious for only changing out of her night gowns and house coats when guests were expected or she had somewhere to be. Each afternoon, she was sure to tune into her favorite soap operas, Jeopardy!, and Wheel of Fortune.
Family and friends may pay respects on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Moreland Funeral Home from 11am to 1pm with a service following at 1pm. Doris will be interned at Jersey Presbyterian Cemetery 12239 Morse Rd, Jersey, OH 43062.
Flowers can be sent to Moreland Funeral Home 55 E. Schrock RD, Westerville, OH 43081 or make a donation to your local hospice.
