With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Doris Pauline (Scott) Dickinson of Beeville, Texas on August 4, 2024. She was 87.
Doris was born December 21, 1936, in DeKalb, Texas to Walter C. Scott and Edith Ima (Bruce) Scott. She was a beloved waitress, homemaker and nurturing nanny and loved watching birds in her back yard. She found joy in collecting hummingbird figurines and tending to plants in her yard. She took great pride in being a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. One of Doris’ favorite pastimes was visiting Lake Charles to gamble; her smile shone brightest when luck was on her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Edith Scott; sisters, Juanita Chapman and Ruby Britt; brother, Ronald Scott; and her husband Louis (Monte) LaMonte Dickinson, Jr.
Survivors include her children, George “Wes” Hilliard (wife Cindy), Mark Hilliard (wife Jill) and Bruce Bolin (wife Linda); stepsons, Steven Dickinson and Louis L. Dickinson, III; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 8, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, August 9, at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary Conklin officiating. Burial will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be George Hilliard, Mark Hilliard, Bruce Bolin, Justin Hilliard, Billy Dragg, Ron Scott, Steve Scott and Tripp Holdridge.
