Doris Jane Duncan, age 95 of Winchester, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rockwood, Tennessee, on May 23, 1929, to the late Frank Loshbough and Amy (McGuire) Stone. A dedicated homemaker, Doris was a good cook and a loving mother. She was a devoted lover of all things green and blooming. In her younger years, she lived in Nashville and enjoyed working in the pathology lab at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and reading the newspaper, as well as going to the beach. But most of all, she cherished the time spent with her beloved family, particularly outings with her daughter. She was a devoted member of Capitol Hill Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, James Robert Duncan; and siblings, Andrew McGuire Loshbough, and Nancy Swafford. Doris is survived by her loving children, Freddy (Diane) Burks, and Karen (Steve) Myers; and sisters, Rosemary Bell, and Rosalind Boston. Visitation will be from 10-11 am on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Mt. Garner Cemetery. A special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and caregivers Barbara Cable, Jane Farmer, and Dawn Murray. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Capitol Hill Church of Christ, Capitol Hill Community Center, or a charity of your choice.
