Doris Eyler Obituary

Doris Virginia (Hildebrand) Eyler, 89, went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late M. Jerry Eyler, Sr., and the former wife of C. Edwin Price, Sr.

Born on January 15, 1936, and raised in Woodsboro, Maryland, Doris was the eldest daughter of G. Roger and L. Virginia Hildebrand. Growing up on the family farm, she cherished riding her prized retired racehorse, Barbara Fritchie, often taking her through town to pick up the mail. Doris fondly recalled her days on the Walkersville High School girls' basketball team and the unforgettable experience of playing in the state championship at Cole Field House at the University of Maryland.

Compassionate and caring by nature, Doris earned her certification as a Trained Practical Nurse in 1958. Throughout her life, she devoted herself to serving and uplifting others-whether as a loving mother, a Boy Scout leader, a volunteer literacy tutor for adults, or a regular donor of her rare blood type to help children in need. Over the years, she worked at Ray's Service, Mama's Family Restaurant, Cambrex (now Lonza), and T.R. Saylor's Hardware Store, all in Walkersville.

Her pride and joy was her family. Her son, Ed, and daughter-in-law Leilani, and her daughter, Cindi, meant the world to her. She treasured her grandchildren and took great pride in each of their achievements. Nothing brought her more joy than sharing stories about her grandchildren-Spencer's dedication to medicine, Alexander's musical talents, Joseph's commitment to Scouting, and Shannon's artistic gifts.

Doris is survived by her son, C. Edwin Price, Jr. (Ed), and daughter-in-law Leilani; her daughter, Cindi Snow Ann Reiley; her grandchildren Spencer and Alexander Price and Joseph and Shannon Reiley; her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Del Trout; and many nieces and nephews. She will also be lovingly remembered by her granddaughter's fiance, Matthew Kaufmann, and her first husband, C. Edwin Price, Sr.

She was predeceased by her parents, G. Roger and L. Virginia Hildebrand; her husband, M. Jerry Eyler, Sr.; her brothers, R. LeRoy Hildebrand and wife Ellen, and J. Henry Hildebrand and wife M. Virginia; her sister, Ann Gordon; and her nephew, Jere Trout.

The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.

It was always a pleasure taking care of Ms Doris and her extended family for over 35 years. I even hired her daughter Cindy to work my reception desk for over 20 years and really got to know and appreciate their whole family. Rest in peace Ms Doris.

I'm so sorry to hear the passing of such a sweet soul. I do remember being small and having play dates at their house with Cindy. We loved playing outside and riding bikes down the bank parking lot hill. Prayers to the family.

Mrs Eyler was always very sweet to my three daughters when I would bring them with me into the hardware store when they were little. Twenty years later now they still remember her kindness. I was always happy to see her at the pharmacy and miss talking with her.
