Doris J. Farmer, 93, of Colorado Springs passed away on August 19, 2025.

Doris was born in Lehigh, Kansas on August 18, 1932, to John and Bertha Unruh. She received her BA in Music Education from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.

She married the love of her life, Donald L. Farmer, on June 22, 1957. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1961. They were married for 58 years until Don's passing in 2016.

Doris was an active member of First Christian Church for over 50 years, where she sang in the choir and occasionally played piano. She was also instrumental in researching and purchasing the organ at the church. She is survived by five children: David ( Lisa) Farmer, Denise (Mike) Coughlin, Deidra (Reed) Burns, Debra Herrington, and Daryl (Joan) Farmer; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one step-grandson.

She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Jonas and Fran Unruh.

She is remembered as a generous and giving person, and a loving mother and grandmother. In addition to family, she enjoyed playing and teaching piano, swimming, and watching her beloved Denver Broncos. She also loved playing cards with family and friends, and usually won.

A memorial service will be held at Springs Funeral Services on September 18 at 10:00 A.M, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org/.

I can´t express strongly enough how much I love and admire Aunt Doris! She was such a kind, loving lady. She was always curious and genuinely cared about every person she encountered. I took many lessons from her over the years and every single memory I have of and with her makes me smile. Her beauty was deep within and emanated from her - it could be seen and felt by just being around her. All who had the blessing of knowing her is better for it. There is now more piano music and card playing going on in Heaven. Prayers for comfort and peace to all of the family.
