Raymond Miller, age 94, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on August 22, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on November 29, 1930, in Dorena, Missouri, to Jimmy and Bertha Miller, the oldest of nine children.

A devoted son, brother, and uncle, Raymond loved his family deeply and dedicated his life to making sure those around him were cared for and had the opportunity for a better future. He was a hard worker-intelligent, thrifty, and quietly wise.

Raymond graduated from East Prairie High School and spent a period of his early years working in Chicago, Illinois, before settling in Louisiana. He spent most of his adult life farming cotton and soybeans on Crescent Plantation in Waterproof, Louisiana, where he worked with determination, pride, and a strong sense of responsibility. In retirement, he made his home in Natchez, Mississippi, where he enjoyed a slower pace, McDonald's coffee, and visiting with neighbors.

Raymond found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a lifelong love of the rodeo, old westerns, reading history, and telling stories of days gone by. He loved fishing, squirrel hunting, raccoon hunting, and his dogs. But mostly he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Bertha Miller; his brothers Holies, George, Neadiam, and Sam P. Miller; and his sister Betty Sue Wilson.

He is survived by his brother M.L. Miller, sisters Mary Ruth Carpenter and Patty Lue VandeVen, and three generations of loving nieces and nephews, who will remember his kindness, wisdom, and steady presence with great affection. "He was a brother, an uncle, and at some point in our lives, a father. You could always call him or turn to him," reflected one of his nieces. "Uncle Raymond has been there for all of us," said another. Even the youngest generation would sit by his side in sweet adoration.

Raymond's legacy is one of quiet strength, deep love, and a life lived without regret. When asked what he was proudest of in his life he responded with, "The way I took care of my family."

Raymond will be missed by all who knew him.
