Brookfield- Doris M. Fenton, 97, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield. She was born in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late George and Helen (Clark) Fenton.
Doris grew up in Waterbury, CT and graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School in 1945. She moved to Brookfield in 1946 and worked at the former American Optical Company in Southbridge for 41 years.
She enjoyed reading, watching sports on television, and was a long-time fan of the Dodgers, Red Sox and Patriots. She enjoyed keeping statistics on the players and her favorite teams. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved friends who were like family to her. Doris really did treat her close friends as family. "You've got a friend in me" bodes well as a testament to her life.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church since moving to Brookfield in 1946, and tributes her long life in part to her strong faith.
Her friends would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff members at the Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center who gave her quality and loving care over these past few years.
Doris' life will be celebrated with her request of a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 10AM in St. Mary Church, Lincoln St., in Brookfield. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in West Brookfield following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish, P.O. Box 563, in West Brookfield.
Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield is assisting with her funeral arrangements. An online tribute book is available at varnumfuneralhome.com
