Doris Hadler, 101, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Durham, NC at her home at Carolina Reserve of Durham. She was married for 64 years to her beloved late husband Jack Hadler. Doris’ life was blessing to all of her family as she actively loved and participated in the lives of her children, grandchildren and more recently great-grandchildren. She is the beloved mother of her daughter Terry Beth Hadler and son Wayne Robert Hadler, the beloved grandmother of Jessica Sara Hadler, Michael Jason Hadler, Marissa Hadler Savinon and her step-grandson Asher Colburn-Hertzberg, the beloved great-grandmother (GG) of Zoe, Zack, Nico and Ezekiel. Doris was daughter of the late Abraham Jacob Pollock and Martha Kalmowitz Pollock. Her parents loved her dearly and raised her to be a wonderful human being.
Doris was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. She was educated at Hunter High School and Hunter College in New York City. Professionally Doris was an educator in the New York City school system. She wrote mathematic books for children and at the time of her retirement was a principal of an elementary school in New York City.
Doris and her beloved husband Jack moved to the Chapel Hill community to be closer to family in 2000. She was a long-standing member of Judea Reform Congregation and enjoyed her Havurah group for many years.
Her kindness, love, intelligence, sense of humor and commitment to family and friends will be missed by all who had the opportunity to be graced by her loving presence.
The family asks that donations be made in Doris’ memory to Judea Reform Congregation.
