Shipman's Funeral & Cremation ServiceDoris Ann Hiner, 90, formerly of Pryor, Oklahoma, was born on February 19,1936 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to William Henry and Ollie (Ross) Hiner. She went to join them on March 5, 2026.
Doris grew up in Keefeton, Oklahoma and graduated from Warner High School in 1955. She then attended Connors College in Warner from 1955- 1957. From 1957 to 1959 she attended Northeastern Sate University in Tahlequah and graduated with a teaching degree. She began her teaching career in Wayside, Kansas where she stayed for two years, and then taught one year at Kinta, Oklahoma. After Kinta, she returned to Keefeton and taught until the school closed. She enjoyed teaching the children whose parents she had grew up with and attended school from third grade to high school. After Keefeton, Doris began teaching at Osage School in Pryor, where she remained for 23 years and enjoyed many long-lasting friendships with colleagues and students. Doris was an active member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Secretary and Church Clerk for over 30 years. She was a committed and faithful servant of the Lord and found much joy in being able to serve in the church over many years. Doris loved to travel both in the states and abroad. She enjoyed many trips to Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama and North Carolina, to attend gospel singings. She was privileged to travel to the Holy Land, England, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, and France. She also enjoyed several cruises. Traveling with friends and family brought Doris great happiness and she was always ready for the next adventure.
She is survived by sister-in-law Judy Dotson of Braggs, OK, niece Vickie Kyzer of Warner, OK, niece Robin (Ronnie) Walker of Muskogee, OK, niece Susan (Ronnie) Hogle of Braggs, Ok, great niece Sabra (Bryan) Boyd of Liberty MO, great nephew John Mark (Nikki) Baker of Glenwood, AR, and leaves behind a wide circle of extended family and friends whose lives she touched. Doris was preceded in death by her parents William Henry and Ollie Hiner, her sisters, Ida Griffin and Mary McCualey, her bothers, Cornell and Donald Hiner, and two nephews Cornell Lee and Wayne Hiner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Pastor Jerold Pilant officiating. A private interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2026, at Shipman's Funeral Home in Pryor.
