Doris Rich Holcombe, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023, in Cummings, GA. She was born on December 5, 1935, in Collins to parents Charlie George and Reba Powell Rich. She had lived in Dawsonville for many years.
Doris led a fulfilling life, characterized by dedication and commitment. She worked diligently and retired as a supervisor from JC Penny after 25 years of exemplary service. Her strong work ethic and leadership skills were admired by her colleagues and will be remembered for years to come.
Outside of her career, Doris found joy in various hobbies and interests that added color to her life. She enjoyed crafting and sewing. She was not a current member but considered Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church as her home church.
Preceding Doris in death were her parents; her husband of 57 years, Doyce Holcombe; daughter Donna Kaye Holcombe; sister Helen Rich Stanford; and granddaughter Amanda Holcombe.
She is survived by her loving children: Reba Joyce Thomas of Dawsonville, Judy Renee Cameron of Cumming, Gregory Alan (Cindy) Holcombe of Stockbridge, Michael Doyce (Wanda) Holcombe of Cumming, and Dennis Morgan (Kesha) Holcombe of Griffin. Her siblings Janice Lloyd of Ellabell, Judy (Alex) Howell of Cordele, Sarah (Earl) Boyett of Reidsville, and Charles Morgan Rich of Gainesville
Doris was a cherished grandmother to Kevin (Rosbeth) Leath, Melissa Adams, Tasha (Brian) Maki, Christina Leath, Leanna (Jared) McClain, Austin Coble, and Brannon Coble. She was a great grandmother to Tatum Leath Mason Leath, Carter Adams, Bella Rose Leath, Violet Leath, Emily Maki, and Andrew Maki
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 with the funeral services to follow at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Reverend Walter Jarrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Jarrell, Glenn Rich, Johnny Jarrell, Jimmy Adams, Jimmy Rich, Kevin Leath, and Brian Maki.
