Doris Margaret Hooey

Doris Hooey neé Erickson passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 in Calgary, AB at the age of 88 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Gayle (Rob) Nielsen, Sheila (Donny) Dixon, Lori (Rob) Hooey, Shelley Hooey and Tricia (Darren) Hooey; her son, Keith Hooey; Doris's sisters, Alice Keir and Shirley Abrams; as well as seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She is predeceased by her husband, Neil Hooey; as well as her sons, Garth and Barry Hooey.
Doris was born in Mawer, Saskatchewan to Margaret and Melvin "Jack" Erickson. When Doris was younger, she worked at Shorty Restaurant in Moose Jaw. Doris loved the hustle of working in the service industry. After working at Shorty's for a while, Doris wanted a change and made the move to 722 cafe in Moose Jaw, SK where she worked as a cook for many years. In the early 1970's they made the move to Calgary, AB where Doris worked at the Blackfoot Truck Stop as a pastry chef until she retired. Doris was a busy mother of eight but still worked full time showing that she had an incredible work ethic and drive.
Doris was a loving grandmother who cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She loved to travel and played a mean game of bingo. Doris will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
At this time, there is no funeral service. However, a service will be scheduled at a later date in Moose Jaw, SK.
