Rosemary "Cowley" Hooey

Rosemary (Cowley) Hooey, age 100, from Painted Post, NY, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025. Rosemary was born on October 2, 1924 in Corning, NY to Francis and Mary Agnes Cowley. She attended Northside High School in Corning where she was crowned the May Queen and attended Saint Joseph's School of Nursing where she later taught Nursing Arts. Rosemary worked in a variety of clinical and school settings. She was a Cadet Nurse during WWII and served during the Korean War at Lackland Air Force Base in the burn unit for injured servicemen. Rosemary married the love of her life, Curtis Hooey, on September 16, 1950. She selflessly volunteered within the community on the Civic Music Board of Directors, teaching religious education at St. Vincent's, working with the Pro-Life Committee, and being a member of Hospital Chapter L. Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Kimberlee (Armand) Miale; son, Kevin Hooey; granddaughters, Megan and Kaitlin Miale; grandsons, Kurtis and Karter Hooey; great-grandson, Milo Hooey; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Curtis Hooey; brother, Francis Cowley; and sisters, Margaret (James) Cooney and Jule (Harry) Tetor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025 at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Church, 155 State Street in Corning. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.
