Doris “Chubby” Elaine Hultz, age 82, passed away Monday, October 30th, 2023. She was the glue that held the family together. The heart and soul of every tradition and family gathering. You always knew you were welcome at “Grams” house.
Doris is preceded in death by her sisters Delores, and Dorothy “Bootsie”; her parents, Dorothy & Ralph; her beloved husband, Roscoe; and her son, Rodney. She is survived by her children, Dorothy (Joel), and Roscoe “R.E.” (JoAnn); her brother, Ralph (Linda); and 29 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Although, that does not include all her other “grandbabies” that she deemed her own throughout the years. If you were at her house, you WERE family (and you were staying for dinner).
One of the things that she and her husband loved to do was travel and go on cruises. They had ventured to Thailand, Alaska, Hawaii, and other beautiful destinations. You could always find her bird watching, out working in the yard, painting her ceramics, listening to Alan Jackson, Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn. She loved her Detroit “Tagers”, Golden Girls, and although she looked innocent, she would whoop your butt in cards! If there was a disagreement on the rules of a game- you went to Grams.
Her smile and her laugh lit up any room she was in. She was 2 creams, 2 sugars, homemade icing on Christmas sugar cookies, dinner at the table every night, and prayers before bed. She was home when you didn’t know where home was. She was “Grams” to anyone who needed her. She was a wonderful, light, beautiful, and giving soul, and the world will be a little dimmer without her shine.
To our grandma: You are gone, but thank you for all these soft, sweet things you have left behind in my home, my head, and in my heart.
