Doris Jobe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home & Crematory - Princess Anne Chapel on Apr. 22, 2025.
Doris Arlene Jobe, born in 1937 in Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by love and family. Doris was the daughter of James Aud Rogers and Ola Mae Rogers and one of nine children. She lived a life of love and devotion and duty to her family.
In 1957, Doris married Kenneth Dale Jobe, after the two met in high school and while they were attending college. She was a graduate of Southern Illinois University and enjoyed cheerleading at Missouri School of Mines. As an Army Officer's wife for 21 years, she created a home wherever they were stationed, from Oklahoma to Kansas City to San Francisco to Wyoming to Virginia. They settled in Virginia Beach in 1983.
During her career, Doris worked as a secretary for American Motors, a legal assistant for Pender and Coward, and as an assistant in the banking industry. But her proudest roles were those of wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her family remembers summers spent camping at Rehobeth Beach, homemade donuts on holiday mornings, strawberry pie, and her fried chicken. She made every meal feel like a memory.
Doris loved to read, and she especially loved babies. She liked country music and enjoyed traveling to Disney World with her grandchildren and a memorable Bahamas cruise with Ken and family on their 35th wedding anniversary.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters, 2 brothers, and her miniature black poodle Bubba, who she loved dearly. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized as an adult with guidance from her mother-in-law, Susan Jobe.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Stan) Broaddus and Pamela (Bud) Hamrick, grandchildren Jenna (Kevin) Garrity and Bobby (Lauren) Hamrick and Caroline Hamrick, one cherished great- granddaughter, her sister Jean Moss, and cousin Peggy Evans.
Doris's life was filled with love, resilience, and the quiet strength of a woman who held her family close and made the world sweeter with every dessert, every smile, and every song she sang along to.
The family will receive friends from 11:30am to 12:30pm on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel. A funeral service will begin at 12:30pm in the funeral home's chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

Cheryl and Pam I heard of your Mom´s passing today from a former co-worker at Pender & Coward. I am deeply sorry and saddened by her loss. We exchanged letters a few years ago and I thought of her, your Dad and both of you often and fondly. Prayers for all of you.
